About Us
Aim
The aim of the centre is:
- to provide opportunities to deepen the spiritual life of the people of the diocese, also to welcome those beyond the immediate diocese to come, rest and pray.

- to provide an atmosphere of prayer and contemplation, opportunities for faith development and spiritual formation for those in parish organisations, in ministry and service to the church.
- to offer opportunities for individuals and groups to take part in private, directed or preached retreats, engaged and marriage encounter week-ends, or to come and rest a while.

History
The land for the Mount Tabor Retreat Centre was donated by Mary Alice Francis to the Most Reverend Donald James Reece D.D., the Catholic Bishop of St John's Basseterre in 1999.

The building of the present retreat centre began in July 1999 and was completed in December 2000.

On the 1 September 2001, Fr Frank Power SVD, moved into the Centre on a part-time basis to set-up and run retreats. He was also parish priest of the neighbouring parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Tyrells.

The Retreat Centre was formally blessed on
1 December 2001. As the centre grew it was decided that Fr Frank would take up permanent residence in September 2003.
In 2006 he moved to be Administrator of the Catholic Cathedral in St John's and Sr Mary Jo McKeefry SSL became the Administrator of the Retreat Centre on 1 December 2006.

Sr Mary Jo was Deputy Director of a Sixth Form Centre in England, for many years, where she also taught A level Theology and Sociology. Prior to teaching in England she taught in secondary schools in both Ireland and France. She was the Regional Leader for the Sisters of St Louis in England before coming to Antigua.
