Mission Statement
The Mount Tabor Retreat Centre, recalls the image of the mountain of Transfiguration, and aims to provide opportunities for spiritual growth, prayer and guidance.
Tabor is the name attributed to the high mountain described in the Gospels (Luke 9:28-36), (Matthew 17:1-8), (Mark 9:2-8) as the place where Jesus went, taking with him Peter, James and John.
There Jesus was transfigured and the three apostles got a glimpse of Jesus in glory. This experience was given to Jesus by his Father to confirm him on his journey to Jerusalem and to strengthen him for that journey. It was, for the three apostles, a moment of exhilaration and a source of renewal and encouragement.
They came back down the mountain to face again the market place and to continue their journey with Jesus, until they were empowered by the Holy Spirit.
It is hoped that those who visit the Retreat Centre will return to their daily life renewed and invigorated.
