Pilgrimage 4 May 2009

A pilgrimage provides a time to pray, an opportunity to look within oneself, a place to meet the Lord and an ocassion to make decisions in our lives.

  Pilgrimage 1

By walking the road from Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Tyrells to Mount Tabor  Catholic Retreat Centre, we have the time to breathe in Christian values.

Lil (pilgrimage organiser)and Lou meet before the pilgrimage

By entering into the spirit of the scripture readings, we have the opportunity to meet God in our hearts.

  Pilgrimage 5

More than ever, we need to reserve time to 're-find' God in a deeper way.

This pilgrimage is offering us an opportunity to reflect on current situations and explore how we can respond from the vantage point of the gospel message.

Young people enter into the spirit of the pilgrimage

As we continue on our journey we reflect on one or two commitments that we have made in our lives

   Pilgrimage 8

In making a commitment to follow Jesus we can often be misunderstood.  We pray for the strength to be loyal to our commitments, in spite of obstacles that may come our way.

Pilgrimage 9

We can picture ourselves waiting in the queue beside Jesus to be baptised.  How did it feel?

Pilgrimage 11

As we come almost to the top of the hill.  How have we been changed by this experience?

   Pilgrimage 13

Through conversion we come to a closer union with God.  During the climb we remember Jesus who walked the way of Calvery and died for us.

Pilgrimage 14

Can we think of one thing that we might change for today?

 Pilgrimage 15

Here at the entrance of Mount Tabor we are reminded of the need to withdraw to pray.  In moments of quiet, when we are alone on this beautiful hillside we can be in total union with God.  Jesus felt the need to go away with his disciples to pray.
